Japanese watch maker Tokyoflash recently released a bold new line of watches. The Tokyoflash Nekura watch line maintains Tokyoflash’s sense of wild futurism, yet provides a more conservative display philosophy for the brand. Where before, Tokyoflash watches used odd display styles that only the wearer would recognize, the Nekura line is a little more accessible. My personal favorite, the Nekura Tumbler, employs a jump hour display with rotating hour and minute dials. It appears to take a bit of inspiration from the Lip Mythic Jump Hour, no? For more pictures of the Tokyoflash Nekura line, continue reading after the break…

The coolest watch you’ll see today will be invisible to its wearers. This beautiful, thick metal watch is not intended to be seen, but felt. The Sentio Digital Tactile Watch displays time with 1mm raised metal pieces that represent a standard digital display, but are not illuminated. The wearer touches the watch face with his/her fingertips, feeling the time instead of seeing it.
The visual beauty of the Sentio watch is a little ironic. This is one of the most progressive watches we’ve seen in some time, yet it isn’t intended to be seen by its users. Its almost like that historic Zen koan: “if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?” We appreciate the irony, and have plenty of respect for Sentio’s designer, Matthew Wagerfield. To help this design reach a market near you, send Matthew some feedback on his website. For more images of the Sentio Digital Tactile Watch, continue reading after the break! [via gizmowatch]

We love our watches at GearCrave. Naturally, we were quite excited when watchmaker Obaku reached out to us to introduce their new line of watches. Obaku’s Harmony watches are inspired by early Asian philosophy and designed by the Danish design duo of Lau LiengÃ¥rd Ruge and Christian Mikkelsen. The Harmony line ranges from classic, minimal pieces to complex, multi-emotion watches with well balanced functionality. Shown above are three of GearCrave’s favorites, the V108G, V100G and V102G respectively. Continue reading, GearCravers, to learn more about Obaku Harmony watches. With little doubt, our friends from Nooka produce our favorite “unsung” line of watches. You won’t them at the watch kiosk at your local mall, pop retail chains like Urban Outfitters don’t stock them, you really have to dig to find stunning modern watches like those from Nooka. We spotted them at a modern boutique in Iowa City, IA on a recent visit– and have fallen in love since. You could say we’ve got a soft spot for Nooka’s designs, especially since we see a lot of works by watch makers like Fossil take inspiration from Nooka. Today, we feature the Nooka Zoo line, available in white and black leather bands and also the “mirror” version with a metallic band. Since Nooka ain’t easy to find, we recommend checking out the Nooka website to learn more and buy online.

In the last decade, the trend in the wristwatch world has been growing bigger, bolder, and more involved. While much of this is right up our alley here at GearCrave, Diesel’s new DZ7091 wristwatch is a timely departure from what is becoming standard. The DZ7091 features a gorgeous, slender metallic timepiece with a silver leather band. The digital LED display shown above appears on a naked mirror faceplate when evoked by the push of a button. We salute Diesel for this fresh new design, a reflective take on minimal futurism.
There’s more to come, GearCravers. The DZ7091 was one of our favorites from Diesel’s new Basel 2008 collection… which we’ll be sharing with you over the next week. Check back for more previews of Diesel’s vivid new timepieces.

The Twelve 5-9B is yet another futuristic design from the always-fun Tokyo Flash. This one gives the boot to the traditional hours/minutes/second hand in favor of a more old-school Battlestar Galactica design. If the old robotic Cylons wore timepieces, this is the one that would be welded to those mechanical wrists. This is a unisex robot watch with a leather band and stainless steel case. By your command, Lord Baltar.
