Having covered the consumer-ready Canon Vixia HV30 this morning, we thought it was time to share something for the budding pros. If you’ve got the directing chops of a Steven Spielberg and the self-righteous indignation of a Michael Moore, you need a serious rig that’s compact enough to let you shoot guerrilla style. The Sony HDR-FX1 is packed with three big CCD sensors for lifelike, razor-sharp 1080i high definition video.  Add a 3 1/3″ LCD screen, a built-in stereo mic and a 12x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens, this camera is ready for your next documentary or top-quality podcast.  Add a nice editing suite and a whole lot of creativity, this camera is one step closer to Hollywood…

Guitar Hero fanatics can now go on tour. ChipChick did a hands-on with this miniature “carabiner” version (that’s their photos above) and report that while the screen is worth every penny you paid for it (but not much more), this under-twenty is both a guilty pleasure and a great gift for anybody with metal on the brain. The teeny-tiny portable version of Guitar Hero is the brainchild of Basic Fun, and we thank them for giving commuters another reason to stay off their cell phones in crowded airplanes, subways, and Starbucks.

Sony dropped the Mylo 2 internet communicator at CES 2008, calling it “all the fun of a PC in your pocket.” The updated Mylo 2 includes a 3.5-inch touchscreen, wi-fi, and is AIM, Google Talk, and Skype friendly. Mylo 2 is also fully YouTube-able, and includes a 1.3 megapixel camera and a photo editor. Some reviewers are pointing out that the lack of Bluetooth is a serious bummer, and we have to agree but regardless, it still looks pretty fun. Price? Under $300.
