Providing some of the conveninence and sharing capability of a cell phone camera while maintaining photographical integrity ISs a tall order. The new Cyber-shot DSC-G3 from Sony met the demands with flair, however. A 10 megapixel sensor, 3.5″ touch LCD display, 4 x optical zoom and 4 gigs of memory provide the easy, accurate picture-taking that you’ve come to expect from a Cyber-shot. The camera takes user-friendliness to the next level with Wi-Fi capability and a web browser. The minute you snap an unforgettable photo (or video) that begs to be shared with your closest friends, upload it straight from your camera to the web. Simply press the WLAN and activate the web browser to upload your photo or video to a number of media-sharing sites like Shutterfly and YouTube. Then move on to the next shot.
The camera works on AT&T Wi-Fi. Since you’re not a pro, the camera lends a hand with technical features like Intelligent Scene Recognition, Face Detection, Anti-Blink Function and Smile Shutter helping you to truly capture the essence of the moment with a picture that should be framed, rather than burned. While its features are numerous, the DSC-G3 maintains a slim profile with a thickness of a mere 3/4 inch. The camera is already available and retails around $500. [dpreview]

Sony is calling the VAIO Lifestyle PC the “world’s lightest 8-inch notebook,” which could be a genuine superlative but sounds like one of those carefully-worded baseball statistics. Joking aside, the Lifestyle weighs 1.4 pounds and could theoretically fit in your coat pocket. Aside from the 1,600×768 pixel display, features include a 3G modem, 802.11N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and four to eight hours of battery life, depending on the capacity you choose. Most impressive, however, is the ability to call up a Web browser, listen to music and view photos and videos without fully booting up. As for why this isn’t technically a netbook, Sony says the 3G connectivity means an Internet connection isn’t necessary to access the web. Now, that’s just semantics. [via Wired]

Sony’s P-series VAIO has hit the SonyStyle store (at least in placeholder form). The netbook/notebook doesn’t have a real picture up yet on the Sony storefront. Spec wise what we know is the computer will come with Windows Vista Home Basic or Home Premium, will be eight-inches in size, and have a 1600x 768 resolution on the screen. The device has a 1.33GHz Intel processor, and a traditional 60GB hard drive that can be upgraded to a 128GB solid-state version. The computer is expected to become available in black, red, and a creamish white color. No word on a release date. [via JKontheRun]

Though Apple already came out with all the neat stuff, Sony thinks they can “change the way you look at laptops, forever”. A tiny Sony VAIO Netbook is expected to come our way on January 9, and by now we only know (rumors) that is going to be a 9.7 by 4.7 inches device that runs on Microsoft Windows, packs Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EVDO and HSDPA. There’s nothing official yet, except for a teaser site on Sony New Zealand. They say the “wait is over” and invite you to signup for a chance to win the amazing netbook. [via Gizmodo]

Sony is showing off a new (pretty hot looking in our opinion) wireless home Audio System. The MBS-900 allows you to wirelessly stream music to the device, supporting Bluetooth A2Dp and AVRCP. The speaker system has a built-in FM receiver and can transfer music from PC and MP3 using the devices 3.5 line-in function. The system has a Monochrome OLED display where you can view track names, and allows you to control your music with touch keys on the device or directly on your mobile phone. Expect it to hit store shelves in the first quarter of next year. [Sony]
