Jumping in on the slim touch screen smartphone market, Sony Ericsson has unveiled the Idou, which it notes is just a concept name until the handset becomes a reality. It sports all the usual trimmings, like a 3.5-inch, 16:9 display for video, music and applications with Turbo 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. Photographers can look forward to a 12.1-megapixel camera with “touch focus” and Xenon flash. The Idou will get its new name and go on sale some time in the second half of this year. Pricing is still unknown. [Sony Ericsson]

Some nice high-end features round out Sony Ericsson’s 5-megapixel C901 camera phone, such as Xenon LED flash, auto focus, face detection, smile shutter, bestpic and photo geotagging. It’s tricked out even further with Bluetooth, an FM tuner and an accelerometer for rotating the display. The screen is a 2.2-inch TFT, and the phone uses the 3G data network and quad-band GSM for voice. Alliteration abounds in the color schemes of Noble Black, Sincere Silver and Precious Peach. No word yet on pricing, but look for the C901 in Q2 of this year. [Slashphone via Electronista]

In a vertical dominated by Apple, RIM, HTC and a few others, Sony Ericsson has quietly released a sexy little slider phone of its own. The Sony Ericsson G705 is quite feature-packed, enough to give the establishment just a bit to worry about. The G705 features a 2.4″ screen, tiltable to an auto-rotated landscape view, an aGPS system combined with Google Maps, Wi-Fi connectivity and a 3.2MP camera for stills and video. Sony Ericsson has integrated the G705′s web system to integrate directly with Youtube, allowing users to instantly upload their videos to Youtube. While the price has yet to find its way to the blogosphere, we’ll keep our eyes on it and be sure to keep you up to date…
