So what if Mini DV isn’t the latest and greatest way to store your homemade videos? At $129.99 from Woot, JVC’s GR-DA30 Mini DV Camcorder will capture those precious moments as good as any camera with SD or built-in hard drive (unless it’s an HD camera, but that’s another story). This camcorder features a sliding rear LCD panel and 30x optical zoom, magnifying to an astounding 800x when combined with digital zoom. NightAlive boosts light sensitivity in the dark, pairing nicely with 3-D noise reduction for low-lighting situations. A built-in Firewire port will even let you use this camcorder as a webcam. You’ll find the same product on Amazon for $250, so head to Woot today if you truly want to realize your low-budget indie film dreams. [via Woot]

Going the complete opposite way of the mini projector trend, JVC announced that it will soon ship a 370-pound projector. Obviously, the D-ILA 3 8K and 4K aren’t about dinky pictures, beaming out 35-megapixel pictures, in resolutions of up to 8192 x 4320. They also feature brightness of 10,000 lumens, a 5,500:1 contrast ratio. These monstrosities use a 3,000 W bulb and a special fiber optic interface, though there’s also HDMI connections on board. But what would you use it with? Perhaps JVC’s 4K camera, which is in the prototype stage now. A 1.25-inch CMOS sensor allows for resolutions of 3840 x 2160and 60 frames per second in RAW mode. The camera head also has a fiber optic interface, which sends the signal to a remote 4K2K signal processor. No word on pricing, which is to say it probably won’t be cheap. [via Electronista]

We’ve seen some interesting developments in 3D tech lately, but there’s still not much television content out there in the third dimension. No matter, JVC is going full bore with a 46-inch 3D LCD, set to debut at NABshow in Las Vegas this weekend. The GD-463D1 uses a polarizing filter and comes with a pair of polarized glasses. Contrast ratio is 2000:1 with a maximum of 10000:1 in dynamic mode. I’ll cost 700,000 yen (approximately $7,000). If you’re in Japan (and wealthy), do your part to break the vicious cycle — where there’s no 3D content because the install base is too low, because there’s no 3D content — and splurge. JVC has launched a new addition to its Everio line of camcorders. The JVC Everio GZ-X900 is a compact AVCHD camcorder that records 1080p video, has 1,000 TV lines to sample from, and can capture 9-megapixel still photographs. Besides shooting high-definition video and taking pretty decent resolution pics the camcorder can also do fast motion photography. For fast-speed photography fans, the camera can take 9-megapixel pics at 15fps or 5.3 megapixel pics at a whopping 60fps. The camera also gives you the ability to create your own slow motion effects within the camera. The Everio GZ-X900 is expected to be available in June for 1,000. [via UberGizmo]

Craving the luxury of JVC’s wooden housing headphones, but can’t afford the $1,110 price tag for the HP-DX1000? A solution is on the way. The HP-DX700 has a frequency range of 5Hz to 30kHz, with 64-ohm impedance and 101dB per mW. That’s all we know in terms of specs, but audiophiles say it’s the wood that makes it good, adding a richer, warmer tone. JVC hasn’t revealed a price or release date, so there’s no telling how much money you’ll save over the DX-1000 or how long you’ll have to wait. [Akihabara News]

These days, who can be bothered to fumble for a power button? Thankfully, JVC‘s UX-GN6 micro audio system can be turned on by waving a hand in front of it. Touch panel controls, including laser touch sliders for volume and CD track controls. Your iPod docks on top, and there’s even a video output for sending iPod movies and shows to your television. A USB jack is included for playing music from external hard drives. JVC has also introduced two other micro audio systems without all the fancy touch controls. The UX-LP5 has a flip-out front dock for the iPod, with the same video output capabilities as the UX-GN6, and the UX-G200 (not pictured) is a standard desktop system with audio and USB inputs plus a CD player and AM/FM radio. Want a little bonzai in your boombox? JVC just announced their latest toy in Tokyo, the Sound Garden “Kirikabu” Speakers– an eco-friendly design that not only incorporates a woofer and an internal amplifier but also pots those special plants you need to make your home greener. Not exactly sure how electricity, water, plants and loud sounds mix together, but I sure hope JVC thought of all these. No news on pricing just yet, this baby is still just a concept. [via Engadget]
