Now that the iPhone has turned 3G into all the rage, we’re starting to see a resurgence of laptops with this mobile Web capability. Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9, which is already 3G-enabled in European models, is now bringing the same functions to U.S. consumers. Sorry Vista users, but 3G only works on Windows XP versions of the laptop. For $125, this 9-inch netbook can be equipped with embedded Wireless Wide Area Network, but if you commit to a two-year service contract with AT&T, you can get a $120 rebate. [Crave]

Remember those new designs that Dell rolled out for their Art House laptop series last week? It looks like they’re doing whatever possible to get people attracted to shapes and not just specs. Following their new direction, artist Tristan Eaton got the chance to revamp the Inspiron Mini 9 and Mini 12 with five eye-catching designs that should be available soon. Performance-wise nothing has changed, but the cosmetic upgrade might get you to spend that extra $50. [dell]

Dell has just unveiled three new designs for their Art House laptop series, that are likely to get your friends jealous. Running on Intel Dual Core processors, with 2GB of RAM and 250GB of space, you’ll be choosing from the tribally inspired New World model by Joseph Amedokpo, the Shine Within model by Siobhan Gunning, the abstract Healing Patterns by Bruce Mau or the Seaweed model by Mike Ming. Other than the visual stuff, Dell is going to donate $20 to the Global Fund for AIDS for every unit they sell to help save the lives of those infected in Africa, so if you plan on doing your good deed, prices start from $649 for the 15-incher and $799 for the 17-incher. I never really saw the need for this whole Netbook craze, most phones do everything you need to on the go, and tiny 8.9 inch screens won’t do much in way of productivity. I’ve always liked 12 inch notebooks however, such as the Dell D420 and PowerBook G4. Unfortunately, most companies stopped making notebooks of this size and they went the way of the Dodo. Dell has now announced that sometime in November the US will get a 12 inch version of the popular Mini 9 with basically the same internals and a slightly larger footprint. Overall, the netbook manages to stay very attractive with a 2.7lb weight and a $600 starting price. [via CNet]

You know the ultra-mobile PC craze has caught on when Dell gets involved. Dell’s latest UMPC model is the Dell Inspiron Mini 9, a small-form version of their popular Inspiron line of laptops. The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 is an Intel Atom-based laptop with an 8.9-inch LCD display, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of solid state storage. It is available with either Windows XP or Ubuntu 8.04, of which we recommend the latter. For just $350, you can get yourself the most mobile of Dell laptops with the OS of the future, ready for your daily office/web tasks. High five, Dell dude.
