Asus is upping the size in its line of all-in-one Eee Top PCs. Spotted at CeBIT 2009, the ET2003 and ET2203 are 20-inch and 22-inch models, respectively, looking a little like Apple’s current generation iMacs. We’re short on specs, but the presence of an HDMI jack, Blu-ray drives and an HDTV tuner suggest use as a somewhat portable media center. Notebook Italia, which discovered the two all-in-ones, says there’s a dedicated graphics card for “excellent gaming,” but doesn’t specify which. The sneak peak didn’t come with a price or release date, so sit tight. [Notebook Italia (translated) via Electronista]

ASUS is showing off a new lineup of energy-efficient LCD monitors. The VH192C and VH196 both use low-levels of mercury and only two lamps to operate, allowing them to use over 20% less power than other comparable monitors. Both screens have optical film applied to them so they can maintain high brightness levels, and the VH192C has a color shine glare-type panel that improves image clarity and color density. No word on when we’ll see these babies hit the street or what sorts of price points they’ll be at. [via Electronista]

Asus Gets Style Points With U/UX Laptops

Opting to show off perky features like a “chiclet” keyboard and a touchpad that emits a “trail of progressively fading lights,” it seems Asus has gone superficial with its U and UX laptop lines, due in the second quarter this year. Descriptors such as “avant garde” and “immaculate” imply that you’ll spend as much time admiring these new machines as you will using them. Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor powers the U series, which also includes a 15.6-inch LCD screen, up to 500 GB of hard drive space, an NVIDIA GeForce G 105M graphics card and Altec Lansing surround sound speakers. It’s not as clear what’s going on under the UX series’ hood. We at least know it has an optical disc drive — for looking stylish while watching movies, no doubt. As for pricing, it’s totally not cool to reveal that right now. [via Engadget]

Initially revealed in January, Asus has announced that their Eee PC keyboard will begin shipping in May or June of this year. For those who missed the CES announcement, the netbook-like device is actually a keyboard with a computer attached rather than the other way around. Asus is working on two versions of the keyboard PC, one wired and one wireless. The wired version will more than likely set you back $400 while the wireless version will come in around $600. Both keyboard PCs are expected to have 1.6 GHz Atom processors, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB or 32GB SSD hard drive. The computer portion of the device will be a 5-inch touchscreen that can be connected to your television through USB, VGA, or HDMI. Expect both versions to drop in May or June of this year. Asus Concept is All Touch Screen

asuswe Asus Concept is All Touch Screen

Listen up, end-users. After soliciting feedback for a “Community Designed PC,” this is what Asus came up with: Two touch screens, with a graphic interface instead of a physical keyboard and mouse, foldable like a laptop. In addition to conventional uses, Asus says this will make a nice eBook, or a multimedia center with the two screens displaying one big image (nevermind the big dividing line between them). The company still wants more feedback, so head to the WePC Web site if this either tickles your fancy or draws your wrath. Why does the dual screen concept seem familiar? Because apparently the same idea is coming to market very soon. We’re betting Asus gets there first. [Press Release via Wired]

Yet another netbook is headed to the market soon. Asus has announced the Eee PC 1000he, the companies’ 10th contribution to the growing netbook market. The computer will be the first to use Intel’s Atom N280 processor, has a 10-inch backlit LED screen, 160GB hard drive, and a whopping 9.5 hours of battery life. The keyboard is 92-percent normal size, which is pretty good in the netbook world, and should allow you to type pretty normally with just a little adjustment. You can pick one of these babies up in either blue or black for right at $400. Super Mario Land Recalled On Back of an Eee

Using a laser cutter at a Brooklyn hacker collective, flickrer “revolvingdork” etched the entire world map of Super Mario Land onto the back of his Eee PC. This is no joke; you can even see the shading under the clouds and the detail on the platforms. The laser was set at 70 percent speed and 40 percent power, in raster mode, in case you’re wondering. Apparently NYC Resistor, which hosted this etching, will take on other projects as well. By the way, what happened to Super Mario Land? Nintendo, bring back Tatanga, Daisy and the superball. It’s time for a Wii-make. [Flickr via Boing Boing Gadgets]

Asus Eee Smart Phone In the Works

Asus chairman Jonney Shih is a dreamer– and he’s envisioning a future full of screens on every wall in the house. To control them all, Shih wants a single smart phone, and he sees an ASUS logo on it. The low-cost Eee Phone will double as an “interactive control,” Shih told the New York Times. “The whole digital network is the key.” This was more or less a tiny comment amidst a larger story on Shih’s plans, so it came with no specifications, pricing or even a ballpark release date. Same goes for the TV screen on every wall idea. [NYTimes via Wired]

The 12-inch S121 Netbook from Asus will pack a healthy wallop for those who can afford the upgrade. At a price of “quite a bit” — so, nothing concrete yet — the laptop can be set up with a 512 GB solid state drive. We also hear that the machine uses an Intel Z520 processor and Asus’s Super Hybrid Engine Technology, and can hold a charge for eight hours. All that in under three pounds.  [Gizmodo via Akihabara News]
