This obsession with individual human flight should have reached a fever pitch a decade ago. As the year 2000 came and went, the promise of space-age technologies wasn’t kept by “the future”. As explained in the trailer above, author Mac Montandon obsessively dug into one specific technology of science fiction– the Jetpack. His book Jetpack Dreams is subtitled as “One man’s up and down (but mostly down) search for the greatest invention that never was.” As you can imagine from watching that trailer above, the book is riveting, funny and strangely informative. At CES last January, Audio Technica revealed a pair of in-ear headphones with battery-powered, active noise-canceling technology. After hitting stores in August, the Audio Technica ATH-ANC3′s have become quite popular amongst those who, well, don’t want to hear a single sound other than their music. The ATH-ANC3′s feature “Quietpoint” technology that reduces external noise by 85%. While most in-ear headphones do a good job of killing outside noise by nature, these babies do double duty. Soul Calibur IV was released in late July to raving reviews from gaming media. The fourth installment in the Soul Calibur series included new characters, guest appearances from the Star Wars galaxy and finally an online component allowing players to face off on the web.
