i totally agree with you some games are better left on the 2d platform eg sonic and when it comes to those games obviously you are all kids that have not experienced the thrill of when those games came out it is nothing compared to the feeling of a new halo or metal gear solid so sit down and take a good look at the games ur playing and realise that there all a piece of shit

zelda and mario will live as long as nintendo does, and im fine with that because they are great games. i really have no like for kid icarus, i like the nes zelda 10x more than it, and all the other zelda games that came out since have been worth playing 10x over. mariokart is fun, but id love to see fzero come back, the one on n64 is really fun, and the gamecube one was also really fun,(although it could give you extreme motion sickness)
halo sticks because of its multiplayer, the campaign was shit i admit, but id play the multi over cod
or doom anyday. i did like doom, i bought it for my snes, and beat it (theres no saving which is really gay.) and id like to see it come back as a run n'gun, but i think it would be better to just go the way of mm9 because its gameplay wouldnt really fit into next gen.
sonic needs to die, and should have when he started riding a snowboard down streets… his games arent any fun anymore.
never tried vectorman, but it looks really fun, reminds me of earthworm jim (which should be revived in its own right, that game was fun)

kill metal gear? you would not be killing a video game, you'd be killing an experience that few, if any, other games can offer.

I do believe that you are mistaken for what Metal Gear truly stands for. It isn't just about robots and stealth. It is about Snake and his history. Sure, you have an objective to complete. But half the thrill is getting to BE Solid Snake and learning about him. It is the journey and the script that makes this particular franchise worthwhile.

If you think that MGS4 is the only worthwhile title on PS3, you are mistaken. *Ahem* Killzone 2, GTA IV (although that also came out on 360) Force Unleashed was pretty cool, Ninja Gaiden 3… It's a jungle out there mate, and MGS4 is not the only tree worth climbing.

super mario cart = same game it was when it came out just different maps and different people
zelda = awesome games but starting to get a little old now
metal gear = isnt the game it once was but still good in its own right
halo = first was amazing, second was the pretty much the same just wrapped up differently, the third is just the same again but its just getting worse.
sonic = why the fuck are they still making these games??!! ok so they were good before 3D came around, who the hell wants to play them now? the adventure ones suck balls and the game play is retarded.

Death to Metal Gear? Are you nuts!?

It’s pretty much the only game worth playing on ps3. I’ve had it since the original demo came out with the PS, and it never gets old.

The story is a little muddled, sure, but it’s like a masterpiece film that you occasionally play parts of.

Kojima keeps trying to quit, but then people threaten to kill his family. If the game were as lousy and trite as you imply, the fans would have let him retire years ago.

MGS4 is literally the only reason I bought the PS3. The game is brilliant, with a storyline that explains the other games and then, in true MGS fashion, turns everything on its head after the credits.

How could you not love this game? In my admittedly biased opinion, it’s the greatest series of video games EVER. There is no other franchise that even comes close to the plot depth, action, and immersive character development.

There’s nothing not to like about it.

I got the feeling you just included it in this article to piss off the PS3 fanboys and get them to comment on this half-assed piece.

Why are you oinking about the PC history of games when this is OBVIOUSLY a baseless rant over console games. My point was that DOOM 3 was the best they could do when they did bring back a franchise. That was the whole point of this article. WORST franchises compared to others that would be BETTER if we brought them back? F-Zero did come back and tanked as well. Sonic is too easy a target since his parents died in a car crash and he's been jumping foster homes for years. You can line up any game along that failed/reborn/failed/reborn franchise and try to argue its greater merit. Even Vectorman.

This article ridiculed some of the biggest names in the business and made worthless comparisons. Every one of these franchises have helped in some way to shape the business. Sonic changed the dynamic for platform games. Zelda64 pushed the rumble/vibration controller into existence. Mario games get churned out constantly. Some are good and some are bad but this franchise makes sick amounts of money. More money means more games and (hopefully) better content.

Each game had it's chance. Don't hate the GAMES, hate the PLAYERS. They're most of the driving force behind a franchise.
