As an ex-submariner, I have to quote what we bubble-heads would say about this,
"There are two kinds of ships, submarines, and targets." The surface boys might not find it,
but if its out there, its already on the menu. Good luck skimmers, fast attacks would use it for a snack.

Awesome ships! Though as several other have pointed out, not the first stealth. Norway also have some kickass so-called "MTBs" - Motor Torpedo Boats.

The new class is, to the best of my knowledge, are stealth. In fact so good that USA borrowed one for a long period.

the navy still uses that ship. it's how they developed the stealth technology in the Arleigh Burke class destroyers and the LPD-17 amphibs.

they can hunt subs using passive sonar...the sonar that is ues the majority of the time...in my 2 1/2 years at sea on a burke-class we rarely used active sonar in sub hunting exercises

ps - i'd like to see how the stealth stacks up against the SPY-1D

US Navy had a prototype stealth ship in the 80s which was the inspiration for the ship in a bond movie (basically a copy of the US model).

These ships also wouldn't be able to hunt subs silently as their sonar would be detectable.

Note: These are the first stealth ships for actual combat use. The US military created a stealth vessel known as the Sea Shadow in the mid eighties for experimental purposes.
None the less, these thing are awesome.

You may want to check your decimal places on your km-to-mile conversions. 13km does not equal 0.8 miles....

Your distance conversions are off.

13 km = 8 mi
22 km = 13.7 mi

Those really are badass lookin' boats.
