Verizon announces new Hub

Verizon has officially announced the Verizon “Hub.” The hub is essentially a desktop phone which also hooks up to your DSL line for browsing the web, checking email, and getting quick information like the weather. Apps and widgets on the device can be controlled remotely, so you could theoretically change an appointment on your calendar while you’re at home and have it show up on the Hub on your desk at work. Verizon plans on making the device available for an initial $199 fee with a $35 month fee for service.
The price seems a little high for a desktop phone, but pretty low for a web device. What do you think- do you think the Hub is worth it? [via bb]
