Concept Plug-In Car From Johnson Controls
By Jared Newman
Johnson Controls is a supplier of car parts, such as seats and electronics, so it’s not known for rolling out stunning concept cars. But that’s what the company did at the Detroit Auto Show this week, bringing along a hybrid plug-in concept car. At the heart of the re3 is a lithium ion battery pack stashed under the center console, big enough to power most commutes. There are other green features as well, like lightweight, renewable materials and a reduction in petroleum-based components. A seven-inch touch screen sits on the dash. Johnson Controls hopes that auto makers will pick up some of these concepts, and so do we. [AutoBlogGreen via Engadget]
