Snow ready your bicycle tires

When it comes to winter outfitting your vehicles, your bicycle probably ends up at the bottom of your priority list– understandably so, since most of us wouldn’t dream of taking our trusty bicycle out in the snow filled streets. One do-it-yourselfer has come up with a solution to your icy biking needs- studded tires. The studs are created by taking screws and grinding down the sharp ends (to keep them from popping your tires) and then putting them in holes you drill into the tires themselves. Interesting idea, although we’re not exactly sure how much safer that will make biking in ice and snow- we’ll probably stick to other modes of transportation. [Wired]
