The Pininfarina B0 Concept
By Mike Payne
Pininfarina and French battery maker Bollore’ have revealed a collective concept they call the B0. The Pininfarina B0 is an all-electric city car with a unique approach to charging and storing electricity. Instead of a standard battery, the B0 features a hybrid system that includes a bank of supercapacitors. These don’t store as much energy as a battery, but they do charge much quicker. That allows the B0 to generate more serviceable electricity while it drives– from regenerative breaking and from the included solar panels on the roof and grille. In a single charge, the Pininfarina B0 has a range of about 153 miles and a top speed of 80mph. We’ll let you decide what you think about the design– but the technology itself is nothing less than lustworthy. [via autoblog]
