JamLegend: GuitarHero-Style Gaming Online (+100 Beta Invites!)

By

Your Rock Band 2 drum set is already collecting dust.  You can play the first few stages of GuitarHero III with your eyes closed.  Why is that?  While these games were ground-breaking and addictive, their fun is limited to the set list provided and the handful of downloadable tracks available.  If you’re like us, and you love music gaming as much as we do, you’ve got an insatiable hunger for new songs and fresh competition.  You’ll be as pumped as we were with this little discovery: a new, free online game called JamLegend provides classic music gaming with a nearly unlimited setlist.

At the basic level, JamLegend provides the GuitarHero/RockBand-style guitar gaming you’re familiar with.  JamLegend goes even further by incorporating a social platform allowing for massive multiplayer competition, detailed leaderboards and real-time vs. play.  The set list for JamLegend is unlimited, allowing you to play scores of songs from familiar bands and up-and-comers that bring their music to JamLegend.  JamLegend is currently in private beta, but GearCrave has secured 100 beta invites for you to try JamLegend now.  Head over to JamLegend using this private beta link, you’re ready to start shredding now. Most importantly, tell us what you think!  After you’ve played a few songs, head back and share your story… [jamlegend]

We’ve got a few questions for our friends over at JamLegend that we thought you might ask as well.  Here’s what JamLegend’s Andrew Lee had to say:

Will JamLegend provide support for control via existing RockBand/GuitarHero guitar hardware?

In general, all new support and features are going to be determined by our community. There are so many ways that we could improve JamLegend that we want to make sure they are things users want, so please post to our customer service forum at: http://getsatisfaction.com/jamlegend or send us feedback@jamlegend.com. As to this issue, we’ve heard users have been able to use their current GH or RB equipment on our site, we may provide support but it’ll be up to our users to tell us what they want.

Will JamLegend secure licensing deals with more labels in the future?

We’re a small startup and it’d be tough for us to pay an expensive licensing deal right now, but don’t rule anything out. I’m sure GearCrave users would be bigger fans of a solid independent  rock band rather than Britney Spears on our site :)

Will JamLegend feature more support for Bass/Keyboards/Drums in the future?

Yes, and even cowbell!

Will JamLegend feature support for voice inputs in the future?

Really depends on what our community wants on this question. It may happen, it may not.

Thanks to Andrew of JamLegend for joining GearCrave and inviting our readers to give this new game a try.  Enjoy it, GearCravers!!
