“As long as there’s oil, there will be blood.” Upton Sinclair, author of the book adapted into this film, couldn’t have said it better. Where America’s need for oil brings blood overseas, it all started with early prospectors and entrepreneurs. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “There Will Be Blood” tells the story of Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day Lewis), a ruthless oil tycoon who wishes to dominate the southwestern US with his lust for black gold. The result is certainly Anderson’s greatest work to date, an exciting film about greed and vanity absolute in America.
